NARVEL
FELTS GOES TO TOWN
In
a cart with well worn wheels
drawn
by horse in true tradition,
A
man with sideburns and a voice like gravel,
and
an instinctive urge to travel.
Singing
as he rolls along
I'm
Narvel Felts and this is my song.
Narvel
Felts goes to town.
He
loves the neon lights, he runs around,
He
picks fights and never goes down.
Narvel
Felts, Narvel Felts,
Big
boots and studded belts,
Narvel
Felts goes to town.
Narvel
Felts, felts of the navel
digs
in his belly button, and sits at the table,
eats
of his naval, eats of his felts
lurking
in the black hole, beneath his belt,
Neon
lights and tartan kilts,
Narvel
Felts goes to town.
With
his trousers down; bit city, bright lights,
Narvel
Felts is alive and late tonight.
What
moves him, makes him sing,
the
win in his country and western willows,
or
the deathly pallor of his skin.

Liner notes:
Dear
consumer of indisputable good taste, Our second offering to
your ears carriesforward the great tradition of independent
recording founded by The Lighthouse Keepers' first release,
Gargoyle.
On
this mini L.P. we have added to the band line up of January
'83 when Gargoyle was recorded. Steven Williams provides excellent
drumming and percussion. Stephen O'Neil, our former drummer,
moves onto bass, rhythm and lead guitar and saxophone.
Greg
Appel now plays keyboards as well as bass and fantastic all-purpose
12 string and 6 string guitar. (+ vocals and sorts(ed)).
Juliet
Ward has added bass, keyboards and percussion to her vocals.
This has given the band an ability to dramatically change
its on stage sound during a set. We hope this comes through
on this record, even though some recorded versions differ
in personnel to the stage version. "MICHAEL" BLUE DALTON:
SLIDE, HARMONICA AND BASS WEEKLY.
Rivetting
suspense. You will not be able to put it down, till you discover,
the final dramatic climax. - JULIET WARD: PERTH MORNING HERALD.
"The
Exploding Lighthouse Keepers" is certainly an appropriate
title for this decade's greatest, most worthwhile offering
to life on our planet. Words certainly do not suffice ...
an awesome commitment to vinyl ... It would take till eternity
to choose my favourite, out of this rich, effervescent, tapestry
of song. - GREG APPEL, NEW ZEALAND TRUTH.
The
"Exploding" Lighthouse Keepers, not just another 12" "Gimmick"
"Independent" fleeting attempt at "Street Level Credibility
by one of Sydney's most "Well Revered" "Inner City" "Up and
Comings". But a complete visual and soulful experience- to
borrow from Karen Bayly a close personal friend of not only
myself but also the keepers of the light. " The power and
honesty are beautiful. The beauty of simplicity." - S. O'NEIL:
GUTHUGGA OBSERVER.
